Kansas Corn’s Summer Shed Tour to Make Stops Across State

The 2016 Kansas Corn Summer Shed Tour, led by the Kansas Corn Growers Association (KCGA), will stop in each of the state’s nine crop reporting districts to share a meal and conversation with growers. Kansas Corn leaders and staff will update growers about KCGA issues and Kansas Corn Commission projects. The first stop will be June 15 for a dinner at the farm of KCGA board member Harvey Heier near Grainfield in the west-central district, followed by a June 21 stop in Concordia. (see complete schedule below).

KCGA President Bob Timmons of Fredonia said. “This is an opportunity for growers to learn about issues KCGA is working on, including EPA’s latest actions against ethanol and atrazine, and how growers can take action. We’ll also share information about the corn commission’s programs and new projects being funded with corn checkoff dollars to build demand for corn and promote agriculture.”

The tour will stop in Grainfield, Concordia, Ottawa, Pratt, Holton, Ulysses, Fredonia, McPherson and Colby between June 15 and September 1. Each stop will feature a meal, a discussion and opportunities to network with other farmers and industry sponsors. The events are free for farmers. Because seating will be limited, participants are asked to RSVP by calling the Kansas Corn office at 785-448-6922, or register online at kscorn.com.
