Kansas farmers planting complete, emergence ahead of last year's pace

June 25: Kansas Corn Crop Progresses

The June 25 Kansas Ag Statistics Service Crop Progress Report showed that Kansas corn planting is complete.  Corn condition rated 4 percent very poor, 9 poor, 32 fair, 48 good and 7 excellent. Corn silking was 13 percent, ahead of 7 last year and 8 average.

For the week ending June 24, 2018, there were 4.4 days suitable for fieldwork, according to the USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service. Topsoil moisture supplies rated 6 percent very short, 25 short, 64 adequate, and 5 surplus. Subsoil moisture supplies rated 9 percent very short, 33 short, 56 adequate, and 2 surplus.
