About The Book
Written for teachers to use in the classroom, “We Grow Corn” takes the reader through the yearlong process of growing corn and highlights how agriculture plays an important role in our lives. Extend your learning by watching real-life video footage as farmers Brad McCauley from Northeast Kansas and Steve Rome from Southwest Kansas plant, care for and harvest their corn crop.

People of all ages can read and enjoy this book. For younger audiences we recommend reading the main text. Reading sections labeled "Fun Fact, Did you Know? and STEM Fact" keeps older audiences interested and learning.
Kansas Corn STEM
Meet farmers Brad McCauley and Steve Rome as they share the story of raising corn on a Kansas family farm. Watch real-life video footage as they explain the year long process of growing and harvesting corn. The video series is an extension learning resource that accompanies the We Grow Corn! book. QR codes will be found throughout the book sending students to the corresponding video. The video series can also be used as a standalone learning tool. Highlights from the videos include explanation of the use of technology, how a planter and combine work, use of irrigation, how corn is used after harvest, and much more.
